Attackers target people

Most losses do not involve broken cryptography. They involve a convincing message, a cloned interface or a support agent who was never a support agent.

Hardware-backed authentication

App-based codes are better than SMS. Hardware security keys are better again, because they cryptographically bind approval to the genuine domain.

Verification discipline

Confirm withdrawal addresses through a second channel, use address allow-lists where available, and treat any urgent request as suspicious by default.
